Before taking this medicine, tell your pharmacist or doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reactions to Vitamin C (asorbic acid) or if you are allergic to any other substances such as foods, preservatives or dyes, or if you have had or suffer from kidney stones. Also tell your doctor or your pharmacist if you are pregnant, or likely to become pregnant. Should you need to have laboratory tests at any time, be sure to tell the doctor in charge that you are taking Vitamin C. While LINUS Vitamin C may be used in pregnancy and breast feeding, doses greater than 1 gramme daily should not be taken because the effect of large doses on the unborn baby (foetus) is not known. You can take LINUS Vitamin C with other medicines. Large doses may cause diarrhoea. In some individuals Vitamin C may cause a form of anaemia known as haemolytic anaemia. In individuals who are known to have the condition hyperoxalurea, use of Vitamin C may lead to the formation of oxalate kidney stones.

Each gran of Linus Vitamin C powder provides the equivalent Vitamin C of 26 oranges.

Adults: As an accompaniment to the treatment of infections, anemia, wounds and fractures: 200mg to 500mg daily (1/8th - 1/6th teaspoond) in water or a drink such a orange juice or blackcurrent juice, preferably after a meal. For the treatment of scurvy: 1g (1/3 teaspoon) two or three times a day in water or a drink such as orange juice or blackcurrent juice, preferably after a meal. Elderly; As for the adult dose.
Children: 6 - 12 years - half the adult dose. Under 5 years - quarter of the adult dose.

Chatfield Laboratories is the trading arm of Chatfield Pharmaceuticals Ltd., which was founded in 1971.
The first product marketed at that time was LINUS Vitamin C Powder. This product was based on the recommendation by Prof. Linus Pauling that the preferred form to take Vitamin C was with nothing added whatsoever. He suggested that additives detracted from the value of the vitamin and that some of the additives contained in the tablets and capsules of Vitamin C could, in fact, be harmful.
We have marketed LINUS Vitamin C (ascorbic acid BP) since 1971 in containers of 60g and 1kg, and have recently introduced a 1g sachet pack, particularly for use in bread making, for which there is a large demand. This 1g sachet can also be used in a fruit drink and is a very convenient way of carrying 1g when travelling.
Recently introduced is the product Baby Bottom Cream, to be used before each nappy change. This is an easily absorbed antiseptic cream containing hypoallergenic lanolin which soothes and moisturises the baby's skin. The product is enriched with vitamins A&D. It is applied with fingertips to clean, dry skin to replenish moisture at every nappy change.
