- Cacao nibs are delicately broken chunks of the cocoa bean -ingredient from which chocolate is made
- They have an aromatic and slightly bitter taste - close to that of dark chocolate

We first heard about chocolate over 1,500 years ago in Central America where the Maya harvested cacao trees in the rainforest. They invented a drink made of the cacao beans called “Xocolatl”, where the name chocolate comes from. Cacao beans were also used as currency by the Aztecs and were worth more than gold or silver at that time.
Then, chocolate was brought to Europe when the Spanish colonised America.
