c1890 Emile Samson after Chelsea figure from antiquity

£500.00
500.00
  • Made around 1890, the subject being a gentleman from antiquity
  • Although this figure is of superb quality, we do not believe it to be actual Chelsea, but rather a later reproduction by the famous Samson factory of Rue Beranger in Paris
  • One of the fingers to his right arm has been professionally restored and there are some firing imperfections to the top of the base and the side of the cloak
  • He stands around 5.5 inches or 13.5cms high and other than the details mentioned above, he is in excellent order.
  • A superb Emile, (son of Esme), Samson of Paris reproduction of a Chelsea figure
  • As is common for these figures, the 'Chelsea' anchor mark has been left on, but the Samson mark has been erased
