We like to think of it as a sort of superhero amongst teas, as it’s a super-concentrated green tea powder that’s packed with antioxidants and nutrients. teapigs matcha comes from the renowned Nishio region in Japan, where the tea leaves are grown under cover to produce lots of amino acids and chlorophyll (the bright green good stuff). The leaves are then dried and very slowly ground by granite to a very fine powder, which is then packed and sealed immediately, so as to lock in all the nutrients in. It’s been a ceremonial beverage drunk by Buddhist monks and royalty for over 900 years. But you needn’t feel foolish about the fact you’ve never heard of it before as, until now, virtually all matcha has been consumed within Japan.

Nick and Louise started teapigs in November 2006. They met whilst working for a really big tea company, where they learned all about tea and drank lots of it. And the more they learned, and the more they drank, the more they came to realise something: that there's a whole world of quality teas out there that simply aren't getting the attention they deserve. And so teapigs was born.
Nick describes himself as a tea evangelist (although much nicer than those shouty ones on American TV). Louise, an experienced tea taster who has travelled the world tasting teas, is a self-confessed tea addict (not seeking rehab).
Glorious pump alley, brentford is the home of teapigs, a tea company founded in November 2006. ‘no airs. no graces. just fine tea’ sums up the teapigs world.
teapigs offer a range of top-notch quality teas and infusions with absolutely no nasties! Everything from amazing black tea to the most chocolatey, chocolate tea, herbal infusions, full flavour fruits & leaves and super power matcha green tea.

Light green powdered tea comes in a tin that you store in the fridge. I mix mine with half a glass of milk using a fork & drink it like a shot. Didn't notice any immediate difference until I realised that I wasn't falling asleep after I'd drunk my tea nor was I yawning like a lion at work in fact I am working longer (note to myself use extra energy for play). Only drawback to this product is that if you don't mix it well enough, it sticks to the side of the glass or cup. I use my fingers to mop.
