Sunlight is necessary for the synthesis of Vitamin D3, which is produced underneath the skin following exposure to sunlight. The following foods contain D3: salmon, mackerel, tuna, sardines, milk, eggs, beef, liver and Swiss cheese.
The RDA is 5µg, but this is under review because more doctors and scientists feel it should be much higher.
