In 1932 Hermes registered the brand 'Hermesetas' as one of the first sweetener trademarks in the world. In 1954, Hermes introduced its second brand 'Assugrin'.

Today, Hermesetas is a popular sweetener brand sold in over 100 countries world-wide and in many of these holds a leading position especially in the UK, Scandinavia and southern Europe.

Our second brand name, Assugrin, is well known and highly regarded, particularly in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Spain and Brazil.

Our subsidiary business, Sucrin Ltd, with their extensive product range, flexibility and progressive business programme, have made a major impact in the areas of private label sweetener products and own label trade mark brands.

Zurich is the hub for sales and the co-ordination of marketing strategies, such as corporate and product identity, corporate communications and publicity. Our own subsidiaries in London and Paris ensure that we are very close to the markets and our customers.

Modern lifestyles leave us less and less time to shop prudently and to take pains with preparing meals. As a result, many people eat an unbalanced diet. They eat too much fat, too much sugar, too much altogether. Three-quarters of people in Europe would like to reduce their daily intake of calories. Safety
Sweeteners are classified as food additives and thus belong to a product group that is strictly controlled by international (JECFA, SCF, CODEX) and national (COT, MAFF) authorities.

These bodies impose very strict conditions on the safety and conditions of use of the product itself, its packaging and labelling.

In the UK all sweeteners are subject to the 'Sweeteners in Food Regulations 1995'.
