Our bodies are being continually exposed to ‘free radical’ damage as a result of the environment in which we live. Air pollution and cigarette smoking are the major factors that generate ‘free radicals’, but one of the most important is the effect that sunlight has on our skin. The body has its own natural defence mechanism to fight these ‘free radicals’, substances called antioxidants which neutralise ‘free radicals’ thus helping to protect our cells from damage. Beta carotene is one of the best known antioxidants which helps to protect the skin against the damaging effects of ‘free radicals’ created by the action of ultra-violet rays on the skin.

Caution: Should not be taken by heavy smokers.
