The active ingredient in P20 is called PABA (Para-Aminobenzoic Acid). It's a natural ingredient in the human body known as Vitamin H or Vitamin BX. When P20 is applied, PABA binds to the skin within 1 1/2 hours after application. This ensures effective and long lasting protection, even when swimming or sweating.

P20 has a sun protection factor of 20, giving you 20 times the natural protection of your skin.

P20 allows the tanning UVA rays to penetrate, giving you the best possible opportunity for a golden tan.

Once a day application
Because P20 binds to the skin, it does not rub off when swimming, sweating or towelling. It lasts all day and reapplication is unnecessary.

No perfume
P20 does not contain perfume: It will not conflict with your preferred scent, and can be used by people allergic to perfume.

P20 is alcohol-based, making it unnecessary to add preservatives. This makes P20 ideal for people allergic to the preservatives added to most sunscreens.

Apply an even layer to all areas exposed to the sun
As with all other sunscreen products you need to apply a generous amount to all areas exposed to the sun. The rule of thumb is that an adult should apply approximately 30-40 ml. per day if the whole body is exposed (6-8 ml for each leg, 3-4 ml for each arm, 6-8 ml to the front of the upper body, 6-8 ml to the back and 2-3 ml for the face and neck). This may sound like a lot, but unlike other sunscreen products you only need to apply P20 once a day.

Apply 90 minutes before going into the sun or swimming
It takes up to 90 minutes for the active ingredient in P20 to bind to the skin and reach the protection factor of 20. To ensure the maximum effect, P20 needs to be applied 90 minutes before going into the sun or before swimming.

Apply to clean and dry skin
Riemann recommends that P20 be applied in the morning to clean and dry skin. If your shampoo, soap or body wash contains silicone - as many do - be sure to rinse thoroughly before applying P20. Silicone acts as a barrier, preventing P20 from binding to the skin. Also, do not apply moisturisers or make-up before 90 minutes after applying P20.

How do I know if my shampoo or body wash contains silicone?
Check the ingredients: Silicone is typically called Methicone, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone or other names ending with -icone, -cone or -oxane.

Let P20 dry before putting on clothes
P20 may discolour some clothes if the skin is not completely dry. After applying P20 you should wait until the skin feels dry before dressing. Stains will come off in the wash in clothes made of natural fibre and most synthetic fibres.
