PABA is a co-enzyme associated with the Vitamin B-Complex and is not a true vitamin. PABA actually forms part of the structure of Folic Acid and is thought of as a ‘Vitamin within a Vitamin’.
PABA stimulates the intestinal bacteria enabling them to produce Folic Acid, which in turn aids in the production of Pantothenic Acid. PABA also helps to maintain healthy intestinal micro-flora. As a co-enzyme PABA functions in the breakdown and utilization of proteins and in the formation of red blood cells. PABA plays an important role in determining skin health and hair pigmentation, it protects against sunburn, skin cancer and may restore grey hair to its original colour, particularly if this has been caused by stress or nutritional deficiency. Studies indicate that deficiency of PABA may result in skin conditions such as loss of pigment and eczema, irritability and depression.
