Herbert Schultes Design:
His work is influenced by function and technology, minimalism, sensuality and light design.
He originally wanted to be a producer. As a student trainee in the Siemens photography studio Herbert Schultes, who was born in Freiburg in 1938, came into contact with the design department of the company at the end of the fifties. He changed his plans and studied precision engineering in Munich and at the Institute for Technical Morphology. In 1961 he worked for Siemens at first. After teaching and opening the Schlagheck Schultes Design bureau designing for customers such as Agfa, Atomic, Bulthaup, Classicon, Hifly, Marker und Osram he became chief designer for Siemens from 1985 to 2000. In 2001, a year later, the Federal Ministry of Economics honoured him as “Promoter of Design”. Products by Herbert Schultes are part of the collections of the New York MoMa and the Chicago Atheneum. Today he is working once more in his own studio near Munich.
Current work: the new “bulthaup b3” kitchen system for Bulthaup.
