How LittlePod was born
Janet, the founder and managing director of LittlePod, organised an alternative 'Live 8' event on a sunny day in 2006. A close friend of over 25 years and expert in the industry, had travelled from New York to her home village in East Devon to hold a ‘vanilla day’ for the local community. The aim of this memorable event was to tell people about the history, growing techniques, cultivation and uses of this exotic plant. Toby, from Roskilly’s ice cream, also joined in the fun after making the journey from Cornwall with his family. Janet’s realisation that vanilla is very beneficial and generally underused in modern cooking, led to the creation of a company with three clear aims:
To create innovative products and promote exciting new ways of using vanilla in the kitchen
To inform people of the diverse applications of vanilla as well as the processes behind its growth
To help the communities which rely on vanilla cultivation as their main source of income and conserve the fragile ecosystems where vanilla is grown by encouraging people to use more, real vanilla.
